Oh and I so wanted M to be for Mysterious Cities of Gold! The day Philip Schofield conducted us through the lyrics was a momentous one in 80s childhood...
So I'll settle for a Sandi Toksvig moment instead, with one of ITV's many bad alternatives to Swap Shop/Superstore/Going Live. Yes it's...

No I didn't know you could send in for a song sheet! Missed out there, darn! (actually my younger brother was a much bigger fan, I was just waiting for Zammo and his drug habit on Grange Hill!! Mendoza looked like one of the teachers at our old junior school...) By the way we have a duplicate on N so please supply an O!!

and Gillian Taylforth! Not the only thing with the initials OS which has been associated with Gillian Taylforth... (though of course she won the court case)
(The) Perils of Penelope Pitstop
Perils of taking a pitstop can include having prurient newspapers making unsubstantiated allegations about manual roadside assistance!!

Oh yes! Just the sort of programme you think is amazing and hysterically funny when you're 8, then you see it a few years later and, oh dear...
(and, fact fans, Miss Popov is now in Coronation Street!)
My all-time favourite kids' prog begins with S, but we forgot Q!!

Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?
That's the original Fred, Velma, Daphne, Shaggy version with no annoying little (S)crappy Doo! Surely no other cartoon leaves itself so open to non-innocent interpretation when you get a bit older (like, when they split up why did Fred always take the girls, eh? eh?). And everything else that's so great about it has already become a cliche (e.g. the "pesky kids" thing at the end, etc etc) so I'll leave it there.
(please explain The Queen's Nose, it's the first prog anyone's mentioned that I've never heard of!!)

ok the queens nose is a recent kids prog, so will only be known to fairly young people (or ones who babysit alot like me) and there is an annoying teenage girl with a completely bizarre family. including an uncle who gives her a magical 50p coin. when she rubs the queens nose on the coin it grants her a wish. transformers (robots in disguise ) has anyone else got that email that is doing the rounds called 80's cartoon classics? i have got 13 out of the 20 but the rest are going to bug me forever thanks to this thread though i got one more. i kept typing in cities of gold and not mysterious .....

I really wanted T to be Tottie A Story of a Dolls House. I caught The Queens Nose one Sunday morning when I was nursing a hangover.
I think we should try and do the alphabet again on this subject... what do you think?

What the..... If it's a B, and if it's kids programmes, then it has to be Button Moon. I had to write that because I've no memory of any programmes starting with a V
