Hello Feeling the need to let off steam? This is the place to come if there's a West Wing character who's really, really annoying you. Here's how it works: 1 ) Nominate an annoying character. Anyone: past, present, recurring, one-offs, minor, major... 2 ) On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being Mandy, obviously, hence the name) state how much they annoy you. 3 ) Other contributors will (hopefully) join in and, using the same 1 to Mandy scale, state how much that character annoys them. You may find them so hateful in comparison to Miss Hampton that, like Spinal Tap's amps, you go up to 11... 4 ) Other contributors may then nominate their own character, and the same process goes on for that character. 5 ) Periodically the thread will be checked, and the average Mandyometer score for all characters nominated will be revealed... 6 ) ...and we can finally answer the question: IS ANYONE MORE ANNOYING THAN MANDY?

Okay. I would like to nominate...
DANNY CONCANON!
Danny absolutely drives me up the wall. He spends his entire time either chasing C.J. shamelessly or annoying her with stupid news items. It seems nobody has ever told him that 1) no girl likes the kid who pulls her hair then runs away, and 2) the ginger guy with the beard never gets the girl.
A little aside here: C.J., what were you THINKING?!
Anyway, I'd give him a score of 8 on the Mandyometer. Pretty damn irritating, but not as bad as Mandy.

Ooh, a controversial start!
I concede that he has his annoying whiny moments and he always thinks he's right and that CJ will eventually come round and all that business.
But the goldfish! And a lot of his scenes are great, and I loved seeing him come back in S4. So I would only give him a 2.
My own nomination would be THAT #@**ING INTERN from 'The Stackhouse Filibuster'. Winifred, is it? The girl who upbraids Sam for his attitude towards GAO reports. Not only is she #@**ing rude to senior staff, she is frighteningly anal in her knowledge of reports and THEN caps it off with the single most annoying line in TWW history: "I suppose you're not a complete loser...so when I get out of school, come see me for a job." To SAM SEABORN! And, bless him, he doesn't (at least) bawl out the precocious little bint in spite of the obvious temptation. She should have said it during his crisis in Somebody's Going To Emergency..., then she'd have felt his justifiable wrath!
You know sometimes you have near-perfect episodes spoilt by a single dull or irritating scene. That's what Winifred does. Sorry, but she gets an 11 from me.

Bit harsh on Danny. I quite like him. Also him being in the West Wing made up for a cringe like performance on the all round cringe enducing "Sneakers".
I'd like to nominate Bruno's two minions that are with us for the first couple of S3 eps. I can't remember their names and nor do i really want too.
They annoyed me. Quite simply they were lazy, antagnoistic 2 dimensional chracters you were designed not to like. And I dislike them for that reason.
Just when I thought they do the old West Wing "Look, although we've set them up to be annoying and one dimensional, they really are 3D and we fooled you", it turns out they were just there too wind a few of the prinicpal chracters up.
Lazy and bad. This is something MANY shows suffer from but the West Wing doesn't tend too, so when it happens, I get mad.
So a big 7 on the Mandyometer for these two.

Doug (bald bloke) and Connie are the names you're looking for. I'd give Doug a 6.5 and Connie a 5 (cause she was quite attractive): it was weird and annoying to come back after 2 Cathedrals and find them bossing our faves around.

Doug as a character never really worked, I think. Perhaps why he's only around for a couple of episodes before getting the hell out of their and heading for some Sex in the City. He gets a 7 because he's particularly annoying.
Mandy scores 10/10 on the irritating beyond universal belief scale.

I myself would give Doug a 8 and Connie only a 5, because she had a fairly cute moment with Sam which I liked. My nomination is to Zoey Bartlet, not so much at the end of s4 but in the early days, because she was an annoying little brat if I ever saw one. I give her a 7/8 on the Mandyometer. And guys, I love Danny! Do people really dislike him that much? It was his suspenders; they cracked me up.

oh the joy of US/UK having different meanings of the same word... the image of Danny in Rocky Horror Show mode sprung unbidden into my mind as I read your post...
Zoey is a character who generates conflicting feelings in me. It was nice to see her come back in S4 as I love seeing characters from past seasons return. BUT she was dissing Charlie AND going out with a spectacularly arrogant ponce. And come to think of it, in the first season I did rather hate the way she turned Charlie's perfectly understandable anger (at not being allowed to turn up to a date because he was black) into something he had to apologise for. And she was a spoilt brat. I'd give her a 7.
Her season 4 boyfriend, whose name escapes me but who was French and floppy of fringe, gets a 9.9 recurring though!

Argh, Jean Paul, I think it was. Frenchie DEFINATELY gets a...I was gonna say 10 but then I think of Mandy...9.9 recurring it is then. (Inwardly shudders at image of Danny Rocky Horror-style... )

I love Danny. Was delighted to see him return in the 4th season. Loved it when he gave CJ the goldfish.
I nominate Amy. maybe not as annoying as some but still a contender. She doesn't move her mouth when she speaks. She just bugs me. I give her a 6.

(Inwardly shudders at image of Danny Rocky Horror-style... ) Let's do the Timewarp again.... I do love the whole US/UK suspenders thing, it has cracked me up on more than one occasion! So what are UK suspenders called in the US then?

I think they're called braces, but I'm not sure. Amy gets a 7, I didn't like her with Josh but she had some quite funny moments. New one for the Mandyometer: John Hoynes, the VP. I. Just. Can't. Stand. Hoynes. Especially if you've seen s4 he's awful, and it gets worse in s5!

Stand. Hoynes. Especially if you've seen s4 he's awful, and it gets worse in s5! So, does that mean Hoynes gets a 10? We have to measure these things you know... I would only give him a 5, because he may be a fly in the ointment but he's a brilliantly portrated one. All of his behaviour is to be expected from a highly ambitious youngish politician forced to take a back seat to a relative outsider for 4 years and then 4 more... As for Amy, she was initially grating but from round about The Two Bartlets onwards I really liked her. She'd only get a 6. Surely those things ladies wear to hold up stockings aren't called braces in the USA? If so, what do they call those things that dentists use to hold adolescent teeth in place...?
