<rant mode>I just tried opening a bank account with HSBC. I used as proof of address the letter NPower sent me with the key for my key meter.
They will not accept it.
They would have if it also showed that I was paying by direct debit.
I'm sorry, but who on earth signs up to pay for their electricity twice?
The worlds local bank? My arse.</rant mode>

Try Barclays. When I got a joint account with them I told a few lies - only little, little white lies - about what I do and they gave me an account no questions asked. I then cashed a joint-named cheque without mentioning anything and then transferred the cleared funds into my personal account. On another note, people, is the moon some sort of hazy yellow/orange colour because of the smog caused by the 'heatwave' (honestly, a couple of days of hot weather and we call it a heatwave - so what do we now call Summer?). I only wonder because I have a full view of it from my window. I'm guessing it's a mixture of things. One, the lack of wind to clear the everyday pollution and two, the light from the street lamps being distributed throughout this layer of smog, equals what we see as an 'orange' moon. There you go, in the space two short paragraphs I've answered my own question.

I'm not sure why the moon looks orange, but my sister noticed it when we were walking down to the pub earlier.
Neither of us could come up with a decent explaination as to why, but your reason make sense Mr. President

I was camping a few days ago and I was looking at the stars n i saw the moon quite clearly. It didnt look that orange then, maybe ever so slightly yellow and we werent covered by smog so you are probably right Mr. President

It's likely that you did. Mars is very visible at the moment, and has been for some time. All you need to see it is the naked eye. And if you're drunk/slightly drunk then you'd still see it because it's shining very brightly in the night sky. Soon to be at it's nearest position to the Earth for over 60'000 years (or so they say).
