By the way, anyone born with a decent record at number 1? Lemon (and potentially Spike), you don't get combined birthday/Xmas presents do you If you don't know what was no 1 on the day you were born try here: www.thisdayinmusic.com/cont/choose.htmlI've only got a combined Christmas/birthday present once. Well twice. For my Christmas/21st birthday my parents got me a stereo and my brother got me a Meat Loaf ticket. Oh, and Kiki Dee.

Hey, apparently I was born with the sound of 'Message in a bottle' from 'The Police' in the background. It was at number one! I'd like to think I could have done a lot worse! I always knew there had to be a reason I loved Sting that much!

Clearly the best record so far, but if your mother's waters had broken a little later it would've been even better, i.e. Video Killed The Radio Star by Buggles!
LOU REED
(it was about heroin, you know; the Children in Need version missed the point by a few miles)

Queen Latifah
There's also a 'life's theme song' which is no.1 on your 18th birthday (Joey, that will make the rest of us feel ancient as it's probably Westlife or Eminem or somesuch!!): Show Me Heaven by Maria McKee was mine.

The US one for me was Close To You by Maxi Priest
and let's have
Vic Reeves
(Born Free with 'Oh Mr Songwriter' on the B-side, and I bought it!)
Something else that will indicate how old you are etc is the first single you bought: mine was 'Another Brick In The Wall' by Pink Floyd, mainly because of the nasty stuff about teachers leaving kids alone, and a magnificent video for its time, with teachers mashing kids up in blenders and walking hammers (don't be alarmed it was only a cartoon!!)
