Interesting to note that the 9/11 special episode Isaac and Ishmael has been submitted to and passed by the BBFC as certificate PG. As you may be aware, each West Wing episode has to be reviewed by the BBFC. In fact, everything included on a commercial DVD has to be reviewed, from the trailers to the menu design. All of which effect the overall rating. But enough of that crap.... Yes, I&I submitted and passed on 13 Feb 2004 - the same day for all episodes of season three. For inclusion on the S3 boxset, who knows? No extras have been announced, it is not included on the episode lists of Amazon, Play or BlackStar, so perhaps it was going to be included but pulled at the last minute. Perhaps it is going to be included. It's not clear. We'll find out next Monday I suppose..... nothing is really crystal clear about this release. We're guessing at the new packaging, guessing about I&I being included..... for some reason at the back of my mind I'm preparing myself to open the thing up to find double sided discs (like in the US of A).....

A review I read recently (by William Gallagher of BBC Ceefax, one of TWW's biggest fans in the media) said that I&I isn't included. Not my favourite episode by any means, but still very disappointing for completists, as I'm sure we all are...

Well its good to see that Amazon have dispatched my order today (Saturday), just counting the days till it drops on my doorstep! I was in ASDA today buying cds at the counter and noticed they had a stash of the Series 3 boxsets behind there. It is the new packaging, but i didn't see the episode list or anything but it would be dissapointing to miss out on the i&i ep .

The word on the street (or, more precisely, people who now have their copies thanks to pre-order and efficient shipping) is that Isaac and Ishmael IS including with this box set. Not seen for myself, but there you go. Also heard that the transfer of all episodes is non-anamorphic which, if you're a widescreen television owner such as myself, then that's not so good to hear And really lazy of WB.

Hi, it is included in the season 3 dvds - I just got them. It's really weird though because the little booklet that comes with the DVDs says that the discs are double sided but they aren't and it says that there are deleted scenes, a gag order and other stuff as well as commentary but I have to watch them before I know for sure.
Also, the documentary is not listed in the booklet. I'm off to watch them now so I will let you know what's on them

I&I is on the season 3 DVDs. But the documentary is not and there are NO extras. The booklet is like the one that came with the season 1 region 1 DVDs and I guess the region 1 season 3 DVDs will get the commentaries on Bartlet for America, Manchester 2 and Posse Comitatus plus the gag reel, deleted scenes and other extras! I'm soo disappointed!

Not seen for myself, but there you go. Also heard that the transfer of all episodes is non-anamorphic which, if you're a widescreen television owner such as myself, then that's not so good to hear And really lazy of WB. That reads as a list of downsides and unfortunately they're all true. Anamorphic WS is absolutely standard these days. I'm guessing there is a reason for this fullscreen letterbox transfer. The menus, as with seasons one and two, are themselves anamorphic widescreen. It's all about picture quality and resolution. Those who think it doesn't change much cause they don't have a widescreen tv are also losing out : ( Let's talk about the booklet. Now that IS just shoddy. That's a region 1 booklet plastered with a PG logo and shoved into the case. Overall, I like the new packaging. I just do. For once WB have used decent images/scans and that shoddy booklet has some good unseen pics in it. Remember the blurry look of the season two packaging. None of that here. In conclusion. Sit far back enough for the tele and you won't notice the scan lines
