It's Thursday now and I'm amazed there isn't already a thread for this brilliant episode.
For my money this was the best episode since Bartlet For America (what is it about the Christmas episodes, they're always incredible!). In ascending order of delight, the best bits:
Dr Keyworth! Will Bailey's baptism of fire Zoey and all that tension with Charlie, my god, what happened THERE? A new spin on pre-credits sequences, especially good because I didn't guess what the relevance was until the word "Tobias". The direction in the closing montage, especially 1 ) panning past the goldfish bowl in CJ's office and 2 ) lingering on Josh looking at Toby and his father
and best of all...
DANNY! Yeah, I guessed that was him in the Santa outfit, but what a superbly-executed return! And the goldfish bit, one of those lovely little back-references Sorkin does so well. And even better, the potential for Danny in the series is huge as he's sniffing round the Sharif thing already.
Why do we have to wait so long for C4 repeats and DVDs?

I did enjoy the pre-credit sequence. Obviously the production crew went out of their way to get it done, since there is no part of the west wing set being used.
CJ's goldfish. Called Gale/Gail whichever way it's spelt. Wouldn't the original Danny-given goldfish be dead by now? Or is it just me who can't keep a goldfish alive for longer than a year?
And I agree, DVDs are a long time coming. Clearly WB don't release them on DVD until a year after their terrestrial broadcast. Which is a pain in the ..... since C4 couldn't give a damn. Fingers crossed that the region one releases are quicker than the UK

I just saw this episode today, its definitely one of my favourites. It seemed that everybody was in a good mood again and the dialogue was fantastic. I didnt think i'd like Will but I do, he has a great personality. I felt so sorry for Charlie, Frenchie seems too weird, where on earth did Zoey find him? I loved the whole 'what is bartlets mood' scene between Zoey and Charlie, that was a really good piece of acting, facial expression wise, on Dule's part. The closing scene had to be one of my faves, I loved everything about it, it captured the mood and plot fantastically.
It is soooo great to see Danny again

Wouldn't the original Danny-given goldfish be dead by now? Or is it just me who can't keep a goldfish alive for longer than a year? I had a goldfish from the local fair which i had to give to a friend to put in her pond cos i couldn't take it to uni, but as far as i know it's still alive & i got in May 2001

Wow! I got a goldfish from the fair and it lasted 3 days, its companion lasted 6 months and that was from a pet shop. I dont know anybody who has had a goldfish that long.

If you keep goldfish properly and look after them they live for years.

Well it my virgin post but. . . yep a goldfish will last for years. I won one at a fair and it lasted for just over 10 years and no I'm not lying. It also grew to be massive a good 2 fingers think. I think the secret is not to feed it too much or often change water weekly or longer. and here ends the lesson on how to keep a goldfish. Thanks, Aidan ps season 5 starts here in Dublin tonight. I'll be thinking of you all that have to wait probably another 6 months thanks to C4.
