Don't like being the bearer of bad news, but last night's episode had at least one small edit, that I noticed. When Bartlet is in the aircraft hangar, the scene ends with 'We haven't meet, I'm your Commander in Chief' thus cutting out the rest of the scene. It's an odd one though, because all you missed was Barlet saying 'This is the greatest fighting force in the World.....' and a bit of other blah that I can't remember.
Ignoring that, I still think it's a great episode and when paired with next weeks ep, Part Two, you get a great season premieré.
One point I like to note is Leo saying 'Can somebody get me half a grapefruit, I've got Jack La Lanne working for me today'. During winter in my house we liked to stay in and keep warm, and use the television for additional entertainment. Cable/Sky is full of wonderful crappy channels, and if you're lucky, one day as you flick through the home shopping channels you might come across the very Jack La Lanne Leo refers to, trying to selling you his juicing machine, or some similar type crap. Jack is an elderly man who wears what appears to be a bright-blue one piece bodysuit whilst flirting with a dipstick woman half his age, all at the same time as trying to con you into purchasing his fruit juicer. Go Jack.

I loved it, especially the comic relief and ESPECIALLY the timezone scene, where I probably missed half the dialogue due to laughing.
I almost wish you hadn't mentioned the edit, as I was just about ready to forgive E4 for:
1 ) not giving us a double bill 2 ) not giving us a double bill when Sex and the City (repeats?) are on 4 times per week at 10pm. 3 ) not giving us a double bill (just once a week mind) when BBLB is REPEATED in the 10:35pm slot just in case you missed it at 8pm! 4 ) putting the sodding Big Brother red button thing in the top right hand corner of the screen 5 ) just when you thought it was safe to turn on any channel with the number 4 in it, showing Big Brother US flaming A as soon as our version finishes!! I would imagine the edited words took up about as much screen time as the trailer for this...or perhaps some nambypambywiseassPCmerchant thought that Bartlet talking about the greatest fighting force in the world was a bit too sensitive in the light of the recent war.
Suppose we should be grateful for season 4 (and only two ad breaks) but really, their treatment of what should be a jewel in the crown just sucks.

At last it has arrived. Season 4 started off well. it was a good episode, quite funny in places especially josh waking sam up, and it was nice to see them outside of the west wing for a change (especially toby - he doesn't seem keen on the great outdoors).
Quite distraught that i have to wait a whole week til the next episode.

I love the wholesome but not too wholesome bit with the soyadisel car breaking down I laugh every time I see that . The timezone but was a stoke of genius - it came when you were least expecting it. I also like the way Donna is two steps of Josh. What's happen to Doug and Connie - am I pretty sure that this isn't explain at all in series 4?

Whenever I see that red button just sitting there on the screen I want to marker pen it over. The red button is non-existant on NTL digital, mind you, so are most of the interactive services.

Actually it was on Telewest... had Sky Digital before! Still preferable to C4's 3 ad breaks though.

tonights Ep (29/7/03)
I would just like to say that when the President was giving his speech and starts talking about heaven and angels and with the music in the back ground it just makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. i am lucky enough to see it about 4 times now and it has the same effect everytime.
i feel that it is the same quality of the national catherdal scene in two catherdals

My E4 has all of a sudden been stolen from me so I can no longer watch season four as it progresses. I've read - though not seen for myself - that E4 have again made use of the dreaded cutting room floor, and editted out scenes in 20HIA Part 2 that are, well, harmless to say the least.
Supposedly the Jed and Abby in the residence bit (before CJ's briefing, leading onto Leo's office moving onto Bartlet's speech) has disappeared. Can anyone who has seen both the US version and the UK version confirm this. It's annoying to say the least and we don't know how long it's been going on for (did season three escape the knife)?

Well obviously they need the additional few seconds for another Big Brother USA trailer, I mean we should all just accept this and sit and take it. Their schedules for one day last week were pure BBUSA with a break for one of those American ensemble pieces with studio laughter. Clearly we were supposed to be grateful for 1 episode per week; having moaned we have been reduced to 0.95 of an episode.
Sorry, I've not seen the full one so I am getting angry. Can't help being a sarcastic, cynical sod when confronted with such ludicrous ineptitude.
Anyway, GO CHARLIE!! What a hero.
