I haven't actually seen it yet, so it's a popcorn and pepsi (or the english equivalent of skittles, m&m's, biscuits and tea) night in front of the box.
Just wondering what other people think of this film.

TAP is an amazing film. Although it is strange seeing Martin Sheen as Chief of Staff and not POTUS.

Some of the scene in this film make me cringe - like the whole 'shall we have sex' thing in the bedroom. And the dancing scene, where everybody stops what they're doing to watch the Pres and the lobbyist dance. I'm sure in the real world a room full of guests might stop to watch the President dancing, but it's like, God!!!
Still, it's a good film. Just as enjoyable today as it was before The West Wing came onto the scene.
And expect the feeling of deja vu in some instances. In particular, 'What is the virtue of a proportional response?'......

TAP is a really cool film. How I managed not to see it until now is beyond me. Quotes (not sure if correct dialogue, but I'll go for it anyway....) Concerning Sidney: POTUS: Do you think I should call her? AJ: The President can't just go out on a date POTUS: AJ, stop being my COS for a moment- AJ: Give her a call Sidney character attack: Some Guy: I've got her FBI file. Sen Rumson: That's no use, my mother has an FBI file for Christ's sake Heated argument: POTUS: Why are you always one step behind me? AJ: Because if I wasn't you'd be the most popular professor of history at the University of (wherever it is he said) POTUS: F*#k you I know there are loads and loads - tonnes even - more memorable quotes than those. I'll be watching this again tomorrow

University of Wisconsin, if memory serves right.
I should be able to remember this, I watched TAP on Tuesday (right after I watched Bartlett for America).
I'm actually worried that I'm turning into an West Wing geek. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)
Case in point: I spent a week searching the internet for The West Wing ringtone for my new mobile. I found it. Typed it in. Went home. Watched ~an episode of TWW on video.
And played the ringtone in time with the theme tune.
Sad?
Maybe.

Now I don't know if you should be doing things like that Not that I can talk - 3 DVD sets, 10 Season 3 tapes, numerous Season 2's tapes scattered here and there, 2 Season 4 tapes and several hundred (I may be exaggerating the hundred!) video cds that have errors on them thrown all over the place. And I like to think I'm causal Yeah I'm a geek.

Fellow West Wing geek here. Where did you get the West Wing ringtone from cos i realy want it. I don't have a nokia phone so i can't get the tune from anywhere. Did you notice the similarities between TAP and TWW. Mentions of Coup, Stackhouse and Michael Douglas' comment about the virtue of a proportional response. All in all a great film. Did you see Aaron Sorkin's other film Malice on Saturday night. I taped it and haven't watched it yet. Looking forward to that tonight before the West Wing.

I did a search on Google for it. I eventually found it for nokia composer (like I said before, after searching for a week).
The only thing I can suggest is searching online for it.
As for Malice, I didn't know that AS wrote it, so I didn't tape it. GRRRR!
Speaking of similarities between TAP and TWW (which I wasn't) what has AS got about flag burning?

Speaking of similarities between TAP and TWW (which I wasn't) what has AS got about flag burning? Thats a good point. If I remember correctly, there was a little debate about flag burning in 20 Hours in LA, from Series one. I loved the way the Pres kind of muted their point with: "Is there an epidemic of flag burning I don't know about?"

There were quite a few things in the film similar to the book. As well as the flag burning thing there was also the bit about the virtues of a proportional response.
The West Wing in the film was nowhere near as busy as the West Wing in The West Wing if you catch my drift. Nowhere near as manic.
i enjoyed the bit when he was trying to buy flowers over the phone. Reminded me of the butterball hotline ;D

We West Wing geeks actually have a name- We are Wingnuts, according to Martin Sheen. The AP and TWW both use the real white house number and the west wing is filmed on the set of the american president. Which oval office decor dya think was the best- I prefer Bartlets, it blends in better. Oh, and in case you want to call the White House from England the number is 001-202-456-1414.

The corridors on the TAP/TWW set is only slightly wider than the actual White House corridors. This is to allow room for the camera equipment. According to imdb, the sets are so realistic, White House security won't allow Warner Brothers tours around the set.
The set was also used for the film Traffic.

It is an amazing set, and I think I prefer the Bartlet White House over the Sheperd one. In particular, the Roosevelt room is pretty damn cool, especially the lighting.
Wingnut. I always thought that this phrase was made up by some random person and then adopted by more random people. But now that I know it descended from the top, I'll officially declare myself a wingnut ;D

Wingnut is what i am and what i will stay. It is probably what i have always been but didn't realise it until quite late on! Why do all wingnuts seem to be from Yorkshire. Are there any scottish wingnuts? Not that it matters where you're from, just curious thats all. d
