No doubt everyone has heard the various rumours regarding this incident and don't worry I'm not going to post anything remotely slanderous, but the way the legal profession has gone into overdrive with this is beyond belief.
I fully understand why the print and broadcast media should be restricted from naming individuals and clubs allegedly involved, as there is a real danger of fairness to both the victim and any accused being jeopordised at any trial. I don't quite agree with the whole "internet slander" thing unless any posting was to be specifically and deliberately malicious and intended to reach the widest audience as opposed to a one to one e-mail.
Today, however, it has got really ridiculous with the fear that opposition fans at this weekend's games may chant the names of players allegedly involved and that TV and radio companies may be held liable. This really is verging on the thought police. What next, will I be liable simply for thinking about who may be involved ?
I sense the legal profession developing a whole new cash cow over this. Sadly, they will forget about, and trample over, the alleged victim, who is exactly the person that should be the priority in this whole affair.

It's been football stories all over the place this week.
Rio Ferdinand being excluded by the F.A. for the England squad against Turkey and the subsequent backlash from the players, as tacit as it was.
To me, rules are rules. So when you break them you accept the punishment. Once again the football players in the media spotlight have shown that they are unreasonable and disadvantaged in the intelligence department.
And since many players think that they can do whatever, I'm not surprised they thought they had the right to 'gang bang' a young female. I've always believed that footballers need to grow up. Whilst advanced in the sport department, their mentality is stuck at a primary school level. You only need to listen to their after match comments to realise this.

I think you'll find the Toon has been thoroughly exonerated in respect of these allegations. The alledged 'victim' is demonstrably a lying, publicity seeking bitch and the only victims here are the NUFC players who's good name was needlessly dragged through the mud. Hence there are very good reasons why the sort of discussion...err...slander mentioned above should not be allowed until all the facts are known.
